Laura Proudfoot joined the Hair Republic | Salon team in August of 2013 and is now proud to be our Salon Apprentice! She recently completed the hairstyling program at Algonquin College and is excited to be taking clients at the salon. Apart from the program at Algonquin, Laura has had the opportunity to attend the Schwarzkopf Essential Looks Show in both Miami and Calgary. Her passions are vast, illustrated by the path she has taken through education: completing CEGEP in Liberal Arts, Gatineau, and receiving a Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Humber College, Toronto. For Laura, makeup, hair, traveling and exploring new dishes keep her busy in her spare time. She enjoys freelance makeup artistry, after discovering her talent when previously working at MAC Cosmetics. From this experience, she was able to participate in a charitable fashion show for juvenile arthritis and volunteering her time at Orpheus Theatre, Ottawa, as a makeup artist. Her travels have taken her to Europe, where she reminisces on her time in Florence and Amsterdam. However, her taste in food takes us all the way to El Salvador, who she thanks for her love of Pupusas! Even though her lifestyle is diverse, Laura finds comfort in Ottawa, when she is able to overlook downtown from her high-rise apartment. If she wasn’t living in Ottawa, she would love to teach English in South America or live on a beach with palm trees! Her positive attitude is infectious, which becomes apparent when you see that she surrounds herself with people who follow their dreams and live life to be happy - why stress over the smaller things? She spends her days off doing yoga or drinking wine!
“We are all friends and everyone is so patient with me when I ask questions or need help with a haircut or anything. Everyone wants everyone else to succeed. We are a team.”
